Shine His Light did not begin as a business idea.
It began with a calling and a prayer.
For more than a decade, I, CEO & Founder, Kaleigh Rogers, worked on the frontlines of the mental health crisis in the United States. As a trauma therapist, I served in places many people never see — domestic violence shelters, residential treatment centers, inner-city youth programs, addiction recovery environments, and corporate healthcare systems.
In those spaces I witnessed extraordinary courage.
But I also saw something deeply troubling.
I saw people fall through the cracks of a system that was never designed to hold the full weight of their suffering.
Too many individuals who desperately wanted help could not access it.
And sometimes the outcome was devastating.
I witnessed people lose their lives to suicide, homicide, broken hearts, and overdose.
No one enters the mental health field expecting to carry that kind of grief. But when you care deeply about people, their stories do not stay at the office when the day ends. They stay with you.
Over time, a question began to take root in my heart:
What if there was a different way?
A Calling That Started Long Before the Business
Looking back, I can see that Shine His Light did not truly begin when the business was formed.
The seeds were planted much earlier.
As a teenager reading scripture, I remember encountering words that felt like they were written directly for the direction of my life:
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy. Deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Those words stayed with me.
I did not fully understand how they would shape my future, but I knew they carried weight.
Years later, that calling would become clearer through my work in trauma therapy.
Learning From the Frontlines
Working in trauma care teaches you something quickly: people’s pain is far deeper than what appears on the surface.
Behind addiction is often trauma.
Behind violence is often trauma.
Behind depression is often trauma.
Many carry wounds that are never seen, never understood, and never properly treated.
The more I worked in this field, the more I realized that healing requires more than simply addressing symptoms. People need safe environments, skilled clinicians, supportive community, and a deeper sense of purpose and spiritual footing.
At the same time, I also began to recognize the gaps in our systems.
The result is that many people who need help the most struggle do not receive it.
For me, that’s unacceptable.
My Own Journey Through Healing
My perspective on trauma is not only professional.
It is also personal.
There was a time in my life when I was navigating traumatic stress, brain injury, anxiety, uncertainty, and the lingering effects of trauma . I understand what it feels like to struggle to function in daily living, to question your worth, to wonder whether healing is possible, and to search for answers that might bring relief.
Healing did not happen overnight.
But it did happen.
Through the love of Jesus Christ, the support of wise mentors and friends, advanced trauma therapies, horses, and time spent in nature, my life began to change. I experienced what it means to rebuild safety in the body, rest in the mind, and peace in the spirit.
Those experiences deeply shaped how I approach my work today.
The Birth of Shine His Light
Over time, the vision for Shine His Light became clear.
This work would be more than a traditional therapy practice.
It would be both a practice and a platform.
At its core, Shine His Light exists for one simple reason:
To create a safe place for the lost and hurting.
A place where individuals are reminded that they are loved.
A place where they are seen.
A place where restoration happens.
Our approach integrates trauma therapy, nervous system regulation, faith-rooted reflection, and experiential healing practices such as equine-assisted work.
But beyond the methods and models, the heart of this ministry is simple.
Every person has inherent worth.
Every person matters.
A Mission That Continues to Grow
Today, Shine His Light continues to expand its work across Arizona.
Take a look around at our world. The need for trauma-informed care is urgent and growing rapidly in our communities.
Shine His Light exists to help meet that need.
The Invitation
This ministry exists because people matter.
Because healing matters.
And because even in the darkest moments of life, hope is still possible.
If this message resonates with you, I invite you to stay connected to the work of Shine His Light.
Shine His Light began with a prayer, but it continues through the support of people who believe that human souls are worth it.
